Darlington manager Martin Gray said that the training day at Catterick Garrison on Saturday was a “very good exercise.”
All of the Quakers’ squad attended the training day, which was aimed at building the players up in various ways as they continue their build up to the start of the new Vanarama National League season on 6th August at Altrincham.
“The whole day was a very good exercise, and full of pluses for the weeks to come,” said MG.
“It was very good for team bonding, and the new lads got to know their team mates a bit better. There was a lot of fitness work and testing, and the players did some work with three psychologists that we brought in for the day. There was a big, big emphasis on the benefits of teamwork.”
The fitness tests included work on a course approved by the Army, which comprised of sits ups, press ups and a one and a half mile run.
Quakers’ next friendly is at Billingham Synthonia on Tuesday night, and then come the big games against Newcastle on Saturday and Sunderland next Tuesday, both at the Northern Echo Arena.
