Tez: "We stepped up to the mark"

Terry Galbraith scores from the spot in the last minute on Saturday[/caption]Darlington’s king of cool Terry Galbraith thought that Quakers more than stepped up to the mark when they drew 2-2 at Altrincham on Saturday.
Quakers twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at a club that was relegated from the National Division last season, and it was Tez who kept his cool the most when he slotted in a last minute penalty for a deserved point.
“The match was a real roller coaster, but I enjoyed it,” he said. “I thought all the players more than stepped up to the plate. We all put in plenty of effort, and we really enjoyed it. On the day, I think the manager was happy with our performance.”
Tez was the designated penalty taker on Saturday, so he had no hesitation in picking up the ball when the referee pointed to the spot after Kevin Burgess was fouled in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
“I was a bit nervous before I took the penalty, but not as nervous as some of the other lads were. I made my mind up that I was going to hit the ball hard and low, so then it would be tough for the keeper to get something on it to push the ball around the post.
“Mind you, if we had got another penalty when Tom Portas went down, there would have been even more pressure on that!”
Quakers are now preparing for two games in three days, the first of which is a home game against Boston on Saturday. Quakers are at Curzon Ashton on Monday.
“I really can’t wait for the game, I’m buzzing,” said Tez.
“We’ve stepped up a league, and I can’t wait for us to show what we’re capable of. We’ve come into this league with the attitude that we’re aiming to win every game, and not play to avoid defeat. Moving up from the NPL First Division North to the NPL Premier Division was a little step up, but this step is a bigger step. Every game is a big game, especially as some of the clubs like Halifax, Stockport and FC United will bring plenty of fans with them and add some bite.
“I believe with the quality and the strength in depth that we have, that the play offs are reachable, and there’s no reason why we can’t push on and challenge. “
