The Northern Powerchair Football League kicked off on Sunday 25th September, with 6 teams from around the North East coming together in Thornaby Pavillion leisure centre, for a great day of football.

Darlington PFC have two teams in the Championship and their first game was against each other. It was a tough match for Team 1 as they were one player down with JonJoe Clennel unable to make it. Macauly Dean and Norman Platt defended well, but were unable to cope with Team 2’s James Radcliffe and were 0-7 down at the end of the first half. The second half started better for Team 1 with striker Jonathan Marriner seeing more of the ball but Radcliffe wasn’t finished yet and added a further 4 goals in the second half and the final score,

Darlington PFC1   0 - Darlington PFC2 11.

The second game of the day for Team 1 was a different story, the opposition Middlesbrough Jets were stubborn in defence and Team 1 were as well, the end result being a draw,

Middlesbrough Jets 0 - Darlington PFC1 0.

This was a great result as the team were one player down for most of the game and Marriner had to leave the playing area near the end of the second half due to a technical fault with his chair.

Team 2’s second game was against Eels Reds from Hull. They had Gareth Bould in goal and he proved very stubborn in the first half. It was late on that Brian Hauxwell managed take the ball past the keeper to make the score 0 - 1 and that was how the first half ended.

The second half saw Robbie Lidgard, then Dan O’Brien open their account to take the score to 0 – 3. Radcliffe then came in with two cracking goals towards the end of the second half. The final score

Eels Reds 0 – Darlington PFC2 5

The day ended with Team 2 at the top of the table and all four players scored.
