Darlington Reserves play their first home game since they became part of the Quakers set up against Annfield Plain in the preliminary round of the Monkwearmouth Charity Cup on Saturday afternoon.

This will be the first competitive game on the new 3G pitch which has just been completed at the Eastbourne Sports Complex and joint manager Mark Fanning says; “The excitement is building as we approach our first home game in Darlington. The lads had their first look at the ground and facilities on Thursday night in preparation for Saturday’s game and they’re all eagerly looking forward to playing there. Our aim is to make 'Eastbourne Sports Complex' a difficult place for teams to visit and provide supporters entertaining football.”

The management trio are still assessing the strengths and weaknesses of their players, and they hope to complete the signing before the game of midfielder Rob Moncur, who had a trial with the first team in the Northern League season.

Former Under 18s Nathan Stephenson and Connor Pearce are both included in the squad, but goalkeeper Robbie Clerihew and Derek Wade are both ruled out, while Brian Myers and Ben Collinson will both have fitness tests.

The game at the ESC kicks off at 2pm, admission is £3 adults and £1 for children.

We would like to thank MKM Building Supplies -- who have an outlet near Heritage Park -- for their shirt sponsorship.
