Quaker Reserves won for the second time in three games with an excellent 2-0 away win at Gateshead Leam Lane on Saturday, and now they’ve climbed to fourth from bottom.
Nathan Stephenson scored both goals in the second half, one of them a penalty, and joint manager Mark Fanning said; “Considering that the players are still getting used to each other, it was a very good win.
“We were outmuscled and a little scared of them in the first half, but the lads worked very hard to get into the game, and we took control of the game.
“Nathan scored twice in the second half, but we could have scored four or five. I thought Ethan Harker, who we called up from the Under 18s, did very well, as did Dan Wheeler, while new signing Anthony Snook from Guisborough looked very useful.”
Quakers’ next game is next Saturday at Wolviston, who are two places below them.
