Darlington Under 18s 3 Ryton 6
Darlington Under 18s worked hard but paid the penalty for a loss in concentration when they were beaten at home by Ryton.
We went 1-0 up after 20 minutes through Vinny Steels. We then scored a second when Joe Smith cut inside and finished left footed to put us 2-0 up at half time.
The second half performance was a lot different to the first and the Quakers tried to soak up a lot of the opposition pressure.
The visitors scored through a corner when a man wasn’t picked up and a free header resulted in a goal. The Quakers were caught out again by an excellent through ball and we gave away a penalty. The visitors converted it to make it 2-2, and they piled on the pressure and scored soon after from out wide. They added two more to make it 5-2 but then Dale Milburn converted a great through ball from Gee Balthazar to make it 5-3.
The visitors again scored on the counter for 6-3.
A lot of lessons were learned, concentration for the full game being the main factor.
