Beaten by a late winner on the Throstle Nest mud
The Academy were beaten by a late goal at Farsley on Wednesday in the National League Under 19 Alliance.
They looked as if they had done enough for a draw thanks to a goal by Harry Stansfield, but Farsley grabbed the points with a 25 yarder.
Academy head coach Alan White said; “It was a frustrating day, we couldn’t play in our usual way because of the muddy pitch. It was a difficult to control the ball, so the game became quite scrappy
“The lads tried to play, but they need to learn how to adapt their game. They didn’t follow instructions on how to use the ball on the muddy pitch – they need to find a way of winning games in circumstances like that.
“We still hope to finish the season strongly – sometimes it takes a day like that to gee everybody up.”
