Tonight's Annual General Meeting at the Blackwell Grange Hotel voted for the change of name of the club back to Darlington FC from Darlington 1883.
This vote will now be reported back to the FA, who will then hold a meeting with the directors of the club before making a final decision. Over 98 per cent of the votes (around 650) were in favour of the change.
The voting figures for all the proposals at the AGM will be published on the official website later.
