MOTM- Jak Wright

(Away kit sponsored by – Tyne Tees Crushing & Screening Ltd)

BIG MENTION - Unfortunately during the game today, goalkeeper Jak Wright was taken off the pitch and sent to hospital, and it has been confirmed he has broken his ankle and is expected to be out for three months. All the players, parents, coach Anthony Verity and assistant Nathan Stephenson want to wish him the very best and hope for a very speedy recovery !!!

It was another battle at the top of the league for Darlington, and after a surprise home defeat by Beamish earlier on in the season, Darlo needed revenge for it and they didn't disappoint.

The first goal came from the left hand side as Tom Gilroy skipped through 4 players with great individual pieces of skill and then managed to find the bottom corner from range. It was just the start Darlo needed.

Tom managed to grab his second of the day with a ball through which left him 1v1 with the keeper, and managed to dink it over the giant! A superb 2 goals from the winger.

During the half injuries for Shayne Ketley and Tom Gilroy forced them off but it gave Shoaib Kahn and Luke Jenkinson a chance to return from their own injuries and fight for their shirt back in an ever strengthening squad.

The third goal came from Hugo Elwood, as the ball fell nicely from 25 yards out, he struck it nicely as it flew into the top left corner.

Beamish managed to pull one back from a set piece, where unfortunately the injury of Jak Wright occurred, and with no goalkeeper sub, striker Jamie O'Brien ended up between the sticks. This didn't affect Darlo if anything it made them more determined.

In the second half the goals began to come with tap ins from Luke Jenkinson and Harry Gill from rebounds off the keeper. Johnson grabbed another goal with a ball from Jake Kiely for a tap in for attacker Johnson.

Kelton Johnson managed to get on the score sheet with a great run forward and dinking it over the keeper.

Luke Jenkinson got his second of the game with a great ball from James Walker, for Luke to tap it in at the back post.

Another great win for Darlo and a great win dedicated for injured keeper Jak Wright. This places Darlington one point off top with games in hand.
