Bucket collection on Monday in aid of Mind

In memory of James Charlton

There will be a bucket collection at the South Shields game on Bank Holiday Monday in aid of the MIND charity.

The collection is being carried out in memory of popular club volunteer James Charlton, who sadly passed away last year, and as well that, some of James’ friends are setting themselves a mental challenge for mental health.

Charlotte Parker explains: £On January 26th 2022 we sadly lost our good friend James Charlton.

“James was loved by so many and will forever be remembered for the positive impact he made on a lot of things, and a lot of people, and for all that he achieved.

“James had a passion for the London Underground, in my time in London I was always an anxious traveller so James would always meet me and help me travel to wherever I needed to go, I never had to open Google maps in my time there, James was my Google map!

“Myself and family and friends thought it would be a great idea to raise some money in memory of James, whilst also raising awareness for mental health, by using the underground for a challenge.

“We have decided that on the weekend after what would have been James’ 28th birthday, we are going to try and get to all tube stations in 24 hours. Due to the opening of the Elizabeth line we believe there are now 282 tube stations - it may not be possible but we are going to try our hardest!

“The aim is to begin at midnight on Saturday 18th November 2023 and finish at midnight on Sunday 19th November 2023.

“Taking part  are - David Collinge, Jack Dickson, Tim Hickman, Ryan Jones, Aimee Parker, Alice Parker, Charlotte Parker, James Parker and Adam Trotman. Absolutely anyone is more than welcome to join us.

“Thanks so much for any donations, bring on the Mental Challenge for Mental Health.”
