The club has donated its surplus kit to Teesdale YMCA in Barnard Castle.

Quaker Retail still had outdated kit from the 2016-17 season in stock, so the club has donated it to one of the world’s biggest charities to be put to good use.

Rachel Dyne, the Operations Director of Teesdale YMCA, said; “YMCA is the world’s oldest and largest youth charity reaching 42 million young people in the world each year. 

“In England and Wales, we deliver 5 key areas of work; Accommodation, Health and Well being, Training and Education , Support and Advice and Family work. Everything we do nationally and locally aims to empower young people through one of these areas. In England and Wales we provide 10,000 beds a night for young homeless people. 

“As a local organisation, we grow out of the needs of the community and in Teesdale, we work with those young people in the communities that don't have a safe space to belong, contribute and thrive. This is where YMCA comes in. 

“Thanks to the donation from Darlington FC, our young people who enjoy playing football can now enjoy doing so in specific kit, and feel part of a team!”

Darlington commercial director Craig Morley said; “The stock was surplus to our requirements so we donated it to a good cause. It’s a great pleasure to help the YMCA.”
