Coach Martin is going to try and sum up the period before the Christmas break in this report.
In September the boys played the first four games and really didn’t score that many. Training was stepped up to twice a week and it is unbelievable how the boys have grown as not only individuals but more importantly as a strong/tough team. Since those four opening games the boys have come on so far. What a turn-around!
Sunday we played a team who were one of the two teams that had beaten us since that slow start. Due to illness and some of the boys meeting Santa we only had five players today and every one of them was outstanding!
Grayson H-T in goal kept his first clean sheet of the season and he has worked so hard to achieve this. So a special mention for Grayson!
Mason Theaker turned up even though he was under the weather and was rock solid in defence making some great timed tackles. – Hope you are better now.
Alva Williamson was superb in midfield, he has become an important part of the team and helps defence out as well as scoring goals.
Joe Webster worked non stop and got a much deserved goal and is turning into a very good attacking midfielder.
Kai Martin scored his usual hatrick to take his goal tally to 26 this season. What was more impressing the way he passes and helps the team out.
Last week Martin praised the boys because of the fight they showed, this week they had the same fight but added goals to their performance. The second half played out much the same as the first.
Martin said “The boys are turning into a tough team to play and are starting to play some really good football. I want you to tell all your boys how proud I am of them all and I can't wait to start applying technique and skills to what is already a very good and strong team.”
A shout out to those that were missing today:
Oscar Thornier turned up today even though he had been ill throughout the night. He has turned into a very solid defender and is very steady on the ball.
Jack Cameron is probably the most improved player on the team. He is one of the smallest on the team but has the biggest heart and never stops running and helping his team.
Tobias Slade is very reliable and one of the best dribblers in the team. He takes corners and free kicks and is turning into a very good player.
All the best parents and boys from a very, very proud coach!
