1st March Darlington v Altrincham first floodlit game

Why not come along on Wednesday night and enjoy the atmosphere in our first night match at Blackwell Meadows?

There were some great matches at Feethams under the floodlights – the old timers will remember those great League Cup ties in the sixties – plus there were some never-to-be-forgotten nights at Heritage Park last season (remember the Liam Hardy winner against Salford?) and of course there was the win over Skelmersdale at Spennymoor.

So let’s have a great night at Blackwell Meadows in our first ever night match.

On Wednesday we look to bounce back against bottom of the table Altrincham after losing at home to Harrogate Town at the weekend.

Despite goals from Stephen Thompson and Liam Hardy, we fell to a 3-2 defeat after an early Leon Scott sending off.

The game was originally due to be played early in February, but was rearranged for Wednesday because of  a water logged pitch.

We met Altrincham on the open day of the season when we came from behind twice to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw.

Since our meeting in August it has been a tough struggle for Altrincham that has seen them bottom of the pile for the last few months.

They changed their manager in December with assistant, Matt Doughty taking over in the hot seat.

Alty have only won twice in the league so far, although one of these wins was a 2-0 victory over Worcester last Saturday.

Before this season the sides last met during the 2010/11 campaign following the Quakers relegation the previous year from League Two. Despite Altrincham being relegated that year they managed to take four points from Darlington in the two league games. The sides held each other to a 2-2 draw in August, before Altrincham took all the points from the Arena in the reverse fixture with a 1-0 win.

Kick off on Wednesday is 7:45pm, updates on the game will be made from the club's Facebook, Twitter, Mobile App and Website. Live Commentary will be broadcast from Darlo Fans Radio at 7:35pm.
