Darlington Under 18 manager Andrew Jinks is very confident that his team can progress in the FA Youth Cup against Clitheroe on Wednesday night.

The young Quakers have pulled off two good away wins so far in the competition against Chester-le-Street and Shildon, and have home advantage against the EvoStik League side – the first time that Quakers have been drawn at home in the competition for several years.

“This is a very important competition for our club and it will be a great experience for our players,” said AJ.

“They have shown great attitude and commitment so far, their heads haven’t dropped when the opposition has scored, and they’ve kept battling away.

“In the last round, Shildon pulled level, but our lads kept their composure and scored the winner.

“Those qualities will help them against Clitheroe. We don’t know much about them, but they won’t know much about us.

“It would be great if there was a good crowd at the game, I know that our lads were lifted in the last round in the game against Shildon. We must make our home advantage count.”

Darlington striker Dale Milburn has hit form at just the right time – he scored a hat trick at the weekend against Wallsend – and he’ll be a key player.

The match is at Norton and kicks off at 7.30pm. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for children, free if accompanied.
