The opening half hour of the game saw few chances for either side. Indeed the only action of real note in the box was when Adam Mitchell stole the ball off a dithering centre-back and broke into the box before losing his footing.

Mitchell though was involved in most of Darlington's positive moves. The winger providing plenty of energy. His pass played into the six-yard box was cleared for a corner just before Stephen Thompson could get a toe to it, and then his corner was turned over the bar at close-range by Gary Brown.

Despite those couple of moments however there wasn't many chances for either side during the first period. Things did improve after the break in terms of goalmouth action. After collecting a Galbraith throw, Thompson saw a thunderous shot on the turn palmed away by Tom Taylor.

Thompson then delivered a cross which put Quakers in front just after the hour mark. His cross to the back post was nodded home to the delight of Galbraith. It could have been 2-0 as well when Farsley right-back Aaron Hardy was forced to clear off the goal-line following a free-kick near the corner flag won by Graeme Armstrong, but it was the visitors who got the next goal.

It was virtually their only attack of the game. Hardy's cross from the right was spilled by Jameson and despite Darlington’s protestations the goal stood. In the dying moments substitute Amar Purewal’s shot was deflected and Taylor did tremendously well to get a foot to it.
