Quakers' winning run came to an end when they were beaten by Fylde at Blackwell Meadows.

Quakers took the lead through Jacob Hazel, but Fylde hit back to win with efforts by Tom Walker and Nick Haughton.

However, Quakers created some good chances, and were also unhappy that several penalty claims were turned down.

The defeat means that Quakers are knocked off top spot, but are still nicely placed in third.

After an impeccable silence for those who have fallen, Quakers created the first chance when Mark Beck nodded the ball down outside the box for Jacob Hazel to control with his back to goal, and he cleverly created some space for himself before hitting a left foot shot over the bar.

Jack Lambert won the first corner on 5 minutes , but Fylde got the corner away and broke up the other end where Nick Haughton’s cross was headed away by Jassem Sukar.

After Danny Philliskirk was booked for a foul on Joe Leesley, Lambert curled the free kick over the top.

Fylde almost scored on 9 minutes. Luke Burke broke down the right and fired a right foot shot towards the bottom left hand corner but Tommy Taylor just got his fingertips to the ball and pushed it against the post.

They had another chance on 14 minutes when Haughton won the ball in midfield, played a 1-2 with Luke Charman, and struck a left foot shot that Taylor pushed around the post.

And a minute later Haughton worked his way in from the left and set up Charman, who put his shot over the top from six yards.

But Quakers responded with a ball into the box by Adriano Moke for Jack Lambert, whose shot was blocked by Chris Neal in the Fylde goal.

Quakers also had a penalty shout turned down when Hazel was upended by a tackle from behind by a defender who seemed to take both ball and man.

And they had another chance on 21 minutes when Joe Leesley’s long throw from the left dropped for Alex Purver to volley inches wide from the edge of the area.

Dan Dodds then crossed deep from the right for Leesley to head wide at the far post.

Leesley’s right wing corner was fisted away by Neal at his near post on 25 minutes, and Leesley’s return effort went just wide of the far post.

Quakers took the lead after 26 minutes, when Lambert found Dodds with a great ball into the box, and he pulled the ball back for Hazel to pick up with his back to goal, and he turned quickly and fired left footed into the bottom corner for his fourth goal of the season.

Fylde’s response was a long distance attempt by Danny Rowe, whose 50 yarder was held by Taylor, who had recovered his ground well.

But they levelled on 36 minutes when Tom Walker played a 1-2 with Haughton on the left to get him into the box and he scored with a left shot across the keeper into the net.

Fylde had another chance through Haughton in the box, but he fired straight at Taylor.

Quakers had a penalty shout turned down when Beck flicked on Leesley’s long throw and Hazel seemed to be fouled from behind, but the referee waved play on.

Half time 1-1

Quakers had the first chance of the half when Moke helped the ball on for Hazel, whose shot was blocked by a defender and held by Neal.

Haughton tried his luck with a 35 yard free kick straight at Taylor.

Quakers had another shout for a penalty when Beck seemed to be held as he went for a Hedley cross from the right, but again the referee waved their appeals away.

Quakers had a great chance on 55 minutes when Leesley’s corner into a crowded six yard box was headed down by Beck for Sukar, to twist and fire over the top.

And in Quakers next attack, Lambert broke down the left, got into the box but fired straight at Neal.

Fylde had a good chance on 66 minutes when Rowe picked the ball up on the edge of the box and tried a low right foot shot, but Taylor got down well to save.

Fylde took the lead on 71 minutes. Haughton had plenty of time to pick the ball up midway inside the Darlington half, run at the Darlington defence and hit a right foot shot that beat Taylor.

Quakers took off Lambert on 76 minutes and replaced him with Jarrett Rivers.

Quakers pushed men forward and forced Fylde in turn to pack their defence, but didn’t really create any clear chances.

But in stoppage time, there was another loud penalty shout when Beck went down as he waited for a Hedley cross, but again the referee wasn’t convinced.
