Darlington v Prescot Cables Preview
This coming weekend we look to get our promotion back on track at home to struggling Prescot Cables....
Ahead of the game manager Martin Gray said, “The players have been left in no doubt what they need to do. I held a team meeting on Wednesday night, and I didn’t hold anything back. The players know how I feel now, and they know what they’ve got to do.
“There is no place to hide, I told them exactly how it is. They know that they must produce their best in every game.
“We have got to win every game over the rest of the season, starting with Prescot Cables. I have every faith in them, and I expect a reaction.”
Our defeat by Northwich Victoria last weekend, coupled with wins for those around us made our job of winning the league a more difficult task. However, the title is still in our hands, nine games left, nine wins and we should be crowned champions.
On paper we have two games this week, which give us a chance to rediscover our form. Yet as recent results have shown, no game can be taken for granted. After Prescot we travel to second bottom New Mills on Monday night.
Gray will be pleased to have Alan White back at his disposal after suspension. Despite being dropped in recent weeks, following his sending off at Farsley, the veteran defender’s experience could prove vital in the coming weeks with everything still to play for.
Third bottom Prescot travel to Heritage Park having won just twice on their travels from seventeen attempts in the league. They have conceded 45 goals away from home, however, they were able to pick up one of their wins on the road at Harrogate RA just a few weeks ago.
They are in the middle of a difficult run of fixtures, which will see them play four of the top five sides in less than a month. Last weekend they lost at home to fourth placed Bamber Bridge 4-1.
Our meeting in October saw The Quakers come away with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Alan White and Terry Galbraith.
Salford City face New Mills at the weekend, a game which they will expect to pick up maximum points.
