Darlington FC would like to announce the signing of David Ferguson from Northern League club Shildon.

22 year old defender/midfielder David, who has arrived for an undisclosed fee, played for Quakers in the 2011-12 season under manager Craig Liddle, when Quakers were fighting for their existence.

A left sided defender or midfielder , he signed for Sunderland in the summer of 2012, but didn’t figure for them, and he left for Blackpool in January 2015.

He went on to make 40 appearances for Blackpool and became their club captain for the 2015-16 season in League One, but was surprisingly released last summer.

David returned to the north east and signed for Northern League Shildon, and has played a big part in their season so far.

Quakers have finally received all the necessary clearances for what has been a complicated transfer and registration process.

An interview with Martin Gray about David’s signing follows shortly.
