DJ: Please give the lads plenty of backing

Cheer them all the way

Darlington chief executive officer David Johnston has asked fans to give the team massive backing in the Emirates FA Cup tie at Walsall on Saturday.

This will be our first game in the competition proper as a fan-owned club and DJ wants the game at the Banks’s Stadium to be remembered for all the right reasons.

“We’re hoping that there’s a massive turnout of Darlington fans for our biggest cup tie for some years,” he said.

“Plenty of loud vocal encouragement can make a huge amount of difference to the players on Saturday. Cheering them when they’re on the attack, and staying behind them when they’re under pressure. There have been some great moments in recent weeks when there has been a strong feeling of togetherness amongst the players, supports and staff, and it would be great to experience more at Walsall.

“We also need everyone to remember that they are ambassadors of Darlington Football Club, we need everyone to be on their best behaviour.

“There have been some unpleasant incidents nationally and internationally in recent weeks, and as a club, we want to avoid any sort of notoriety.

“So let’s have a great day out for all the right reasons.”
