Then why not enrol on a course run by the Martin Gray Football Academy at Darlington College?
The College has an excellent partnership with Darlington Football Club via the Martin Gray Football Academy, and students could get the chance to play for the club if they are of an outstanding standard.
The college offers two courses at different levels:
Level 2 Sports with Football.
This course gives students the opportunity to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or to progress to higher educational vocational qualifications or related areas.
It also gives students the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes which are essential for successful performance in working life.
Students can also develop football skills and fitness, with high level professional coaching.
Some of the units that are studied include; practical sport, planning and leading sports activities and development of personal fitness.
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a nationally recognised Level 2 sports specific vocational qualification.

Level 3 Sports Science with Football
This is a minimum one year course. Subject to the gradings achieved in the first year, an invitation will be extended for a second year to study for an extended diploma, which is required for university entry.
This course gives students the opportunity to enter employment in the sport and active leisure sector or to progress to higher educational vocational qualifications such as the Foundation Degree in Sport or related areas.
It also gives students the opportunity to develop a range of techniques, personal skills and attributes which are essential for successful performance in working life.
Students can also develop football skills and fitness, with high level professional coaching.
Some of the units that are studied include sports nutrition, fitness training and programming and psychology for sports performance.
The course also gives you the opportunity to study for coaching badges.
On successful completion of this course, you will achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 sports specific vocational qualification.
For these courses, you will be provided at your first session with free training kit worth £200, but students must purchase a tracksuit for the price of £70, on enrolment.
