Darlington progressed into the next round after a replay against local Northern League rivals West Auckland. After a 1-1 draw in the first game on Saturday we were able to come from behind to book our place in the next round on Wednesday night with a 3-1 win.

League leaders Salford City needed a replay to see off Congleton Town. Having drawn away from home 0-0, Salford found themselves in trouble in Tuesday night’s return, but they were able to come from behind to book their place in the next round. They were 3-1 down with 15 minutes left, before goals from Gareth Seddon and Sam Madeley took the tie to extra time. Salford then showed their class as they went onto to win the game 6-4, with Danny Webber among the extra-time scorers.

Northwich Victoria eased passed AFC Emley with a comfortable 4-0 victory, Godwin Abadaki scoring a hat-trick.

Spennymoor Town progressed and will now face local neigbours Bishop Auckland in the next round. The Brewers won 2-0 away to Tadcaster Albion, after second half goals from Anthony Peacock and Liam Henderson.

Scarborough Athletic had to go all the way to the dreaded penalty kicks before edging past Northern League outfit North Shields. The Seagulls had to come from behind on Sunday in the first game to draw 1-1, however the return on Tyneside was much more dramatic. After extra-time the game had seen six penalties(five scored), four sendings off and eight goals, as the game finished 4-4 and nine men a side! Fortunately for Scarborough they held their nerve in the shootout and went through 4-2 on penalty kicks.

Lancaster City crushed Washington away from home, 7-0, Aaron Taylor scoring a hat-trick, they next travel to West Allotment Celtic.

Droylsden also won convincingly, new signing Ciaran Kilheeney taking home the match ball in a 4-0 victory against Runcorn Linnets. They will face Ossett Albion in the next round after Albion won away at Winterton Rangers 3-0. All the goals came in the final ten minutes, with David Brown netting two of them.

Farsley AFC progressed after a 4-1 win at home to Athersley Recreation, Nightingale, O’Brien, Savory and Priestley the scorers.

Radcliffe Borough have started the season well, but they were pushed the whole way by Atherton Collieries. A replay was required after the first game at Radcliffe ended 2-2, Daniel White scoring for the hosts minutes from time. Extra time in the replay could not separate the sides, with the game finishing 2-2 again. Radcliffe, though, were able to come through after penalty kicks, winning 3-2, they are rewarded with a tie away to Skelmersdale United.

Prescot Cables had to work hard to progress in their first cup game, but have been granted a trip to FC United for their efforts. They trailed 1874 Northwich 3-1 on Saturday with five minutes left, however goals from Liam Dodd and Neil Black forced a replay. The decider on Tuesday was equally as dramatic, 1874 Northwich had equalised with minutes left, only for Robert Doran to score the winner in stoppage time and fire Prescot Cables through with a 2-1 victory.

Newly promoted Brighouse Town won 3-0 in their tie at West Didsbury and Chorlton, Boafo, Matthews and Hall with the goals.

Bamber Bridge are also in the next round, thanks to early goals from Alistair Waddecar and Matthew Kay. They won their tie 2-0 away to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

In an all division clash, Burscough overcame Mossley in stoppage time of their replay. The first game had finished 1-1, with the replay appearing to be heading the same way, but Nicholas Ryan scored for Burscough in the last minute of extra time to send them through.

Harrogate RA will host Clitheroe in the next round after both overcame their opponents on Saturday. Harrogate came from behind to win 2-1 away to Garforth Town, both goals coming in the final quarter of an hour through Nathan Cartman and Adam Baker. Clitheroe also had an uneasy passage through against Seaham Red Star. They led 3-0 with 20 minutes left, before two quick goals from Seaham made it a tense finish for Clitheroe, however they were able to hold on for the victory 3-2.

Warrington Town also progressed with a 4-1 win at home to Barton Town Old Boys. Scott Metcalfe scored a hat-trick for the wire who now host Trafford in the next round.

Ossett Town won 5-1 away to Stockport Sports in front of just 32 people. Chris Wood and Joe O’Neill both scored a brace.

The other three sides in our division all fell at the first hurdle in the cup. New Mills were 2-0 up against Squires Gate, before going on to lose the game 3-2, with the final two goals coming in the last five minutes.

Kendal Town’s bad start to the season continued, as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by the Northern League’s Newcastle Benfield. Having drawn in the North East, 0-0 on Saturday, Benfield convincinly won the replay at Kendal 4-0, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Padiham were also knocked out by Northern League opposition, as a Mark Hudson penalty was enough for Shildon to win away from home 1-0.

This coming week we have two tough games against sides who have started well. On Saturday we travel to Droylsden, who despite only winning two of their opening four league games, have scored 14 goals. We then host third placed Farsley who have won three of their opening four games.

Elsewhere the game people will be keeping an eye on is at the Brewery Field on Saturday, when two of our title rivals go head to head, as Spennymoor Town host Salford City.
