Darlington’s recent struggles continued as we fell from top-spot in the league table following our second home defeat of the season. Northwich Victoria came away from Heritage Park with a 1-0 victory after an early corner from Iain Howard found its way into the net.

Salford City moved back into first place after a routine win away to New Mills. Steven Howson opened the scoring in the 12th minute for the Ammies. Jordan Hulme and Chris Lynch added further goals in the second half, as Salford came away 3-0 winners. They now lead both Darlington and Northwich by three points.

Bamber Bridge had a great week, which saw them move within four points of Salford. They first won 4-1 away to Prescot Cables despite falling behind. James Jenkins scored early on for Prescot, however, goals from Daniel Mahoney, two from Stuart Vasey and one from Curtis Thompson saw Bamber cruise to victory.

They followed this up with a 4-2 win at home to Brighouse Town on Tuesday night. Matt Lawlor opened the scoring for Bamber before Tyrone Gay levelled just two minutes into the second half for Brighouse. A further strike from Lawlor, along with goals from Daniel Mahoney and Darren Green made it 4-1 to Bamber, with Ryan Hall pulling a goal back late on for Brighouse.

Scarborough Athletic kept themselves in the promotion picture after a victory against struggling Radcliffe Borough. Thomas Corner scored the goals either side of half-time in a 2-0 win. In midweek they were held at Farsley, 2-2. Corner and Alex Metcalfe twice gave the Seadogs the lead. However, goals from Adam Priestley and Aiden Savory earned Farsley a point, with Scarborough finishing the game with ten men.

Spennymoor Town had the stand out result of the week, as they hammered Clitheroe,8-3, at the Brewery Field. Zack Dale gave Clitheroe the lead, but they found themselves 7-1 down after 70 minutes. Liam Henderson and Andrew Stephenson both scored hat-tricks, with Michael Roberts adding the seventh. Clitheroe then pulled two back through Ross Dent and Jason Hart, before Nathan Fisher scored the eleventh and final goal of the game for Spennymoor.

However, Spennymoor’s promotion hopes took a serious knock on Tuesday, as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Mossley. Thomas Dean and Porya Ahmadi scored the goals for Mossley early in the second half. Spennymoor are now nine points behind leaders Salford with two games in hand.

Droylsden continue to slip away from the playoffs after a defeat at mid-table Burscough. Paul Williams gave Burscough the lead from the penalty spot, before Michael Monaghan levelled for the Bloods. Burscough regained the lead just two minutes later thanks to Mark Beesley. Ben Deegan appeared to have earned a point for Droylsden with ten minutes remaining. However, Edward Toner scored the winner, another penalty, for Burscough who won the game 3-2.

Farsley’s top five push took a hit with a 2-1 defeat at Ossett Albion. Connor Bower scored twice for Ossett Albion in the first half. Farsley did pull a goal back through Michael Aspin, but it was not enough.

Warrington claimed a 3-0 victory at home to Kendal Town. Robert Booth, Steven Tames and Nathan Burke scored the goals for the Wire. Their late push for a playoff place was halted though in midweek, as they surprisingly lost 3-1 at home to struggling New Mills. Burke had given Warrington the lead in just the second minute, however, Brandon Windsor, Rhys Nevins and Daniel Forder turned the game in New Mills favour.

Mossley were defeated 3-2 at Brighouse Town. Ernest Boafo and a double from Isaac Baldwin gave Brighouse a 3-0 lead. Porya Ahmadi then scored twice for Mossley, however, they were unable to earn a point.

Harrogate RA were 2-0 victors at home to bottom of the table Padiham. Malachi Farquharson scored both of the goals for Harrogate in the second half.

Ossett Town stay ahead of rivals Ossett Albion after they won 2-0 away to Lancaster City. Shelton Payne and Joe Brennan scored the goals in the final twenty minutes.

This weekend we look to get our title challenge back on track as we host third bottom Prescot Cables, before visiting New Mills on Monday night. League leaders Salford City travel to Ossett Town on Saturday, while Northwich Victoria are not in league action until Tuesday.
