EvoStik Round Up - Week 15

EvoStik Round Up - Week 15

Here's Simon Hahn's weekly review. Darlington’s winning run in the league came to an end, as we were held to a 1-1 draw by Clitheroe. Terry Galbraith appeared to have given us all three points, however a stoppage time goal denied us the win.

Northwich Victoria moved up to second place after victory at New Mills. Mills had taken the lead through Shaquille Antoine-Clarke, but strikes from Gary Burnett and Brian Summerskill gave Northwich the victory 2-1.

Salford returned to winning ways this week, however they were only able to pick up four points out of six. At the weekend they won away to Lancaster City, despite playing the majority of the game with ten men. They won the game 2-0 thanks to Gareth Seddon scoring both goals.

On Tuesday night they were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Warrington Town. Sam Madeley gave Salford an early lead, before a quick double from Scott Metcalfe turned things in Warrington’s favour. Martyn Andrews levelled on the stroke of half time for Salford with no further scoring after the break.

In Warrington’s other game this week they beat Radcliffe Borough 3-0. All the goals came in a seven minute spell, Steve Foster scoring the first, before Ashley Ruane scored twice.

Spennymoor Town pushed themselves back into promotion contention after picking up four points from two tough games. The Brewers were able to beat promotion rivals Droylsden 3-2 at the weekend. Ex Quaker Nathan Fisher gave Spennymoor the lead and Andrew Stephenson made it 2-0 before the break. Ciaran Kilheeney pulled one back early in the second half for Droylsden, however Kallum Griffiths quickly made it 3-1. Ben Deegan scored with quarter of an hour to go to give Spenny a scare, but they were able to hold on for the victory. Droylsden’s second straight defeat sees them slip to fourth place in the league table.

Spennymoor’s other game this week was away to fifth placed Farsley. Adam Priestley gave the hosts the lead however Gavin Cogden scored the equaliser for Spenny mid-way through the second half.

Farsley had earlier in the week won away at Burscough. Priestly scored a hat-trick in a 3-1 win, Liam Caddick scored the goal for Burscough.

Playoff chasing Scarborough Athletic and Bamber Bridge were unable to complete their game. With Bamber Bridge leading 1-0, the match was abandoned due to a serious injury to Seadog midfielder Chris Bolder.

Mossley stay in the top ten in the league after a victory over Prescot Cables, 2-1. Third bottom Cables took a surprise lead in the first minute thanks to Neil Prince. The visitors equalised in the first half through Lewis Nutall, before Samuel Robinson won the game for Mossley just after half time.

Kendal Town suffered a surprise defeat at Ossett Albion. Kendal took an early lead when Craig Carney scored in the fifth minute. Albion, however, turned the game around when Conor McDonagh and Connor Bower scored either side of half time. Ross Hardaker had appeared to seal the points in stoppage time when he made it 3-1 to Ossett Albion. Nicholas Rogan scored to make it a nervy finish, however Ossett were able to hang on for the victory 3-2.

Nathan Cartman kept up his phenomenal scoring record this campaign, as he helped Harrogate RA to victory over Ossett Town. Cartman scored a hat-trick to take his tally for the season to 23 goals, before Fatlum Ibrahimi scored late on to make the final score 4-0.

The final game this week saw bottom of the table Padiham suffer yet another defeat, this time away to Brighouse Town. Thomas Matthews opened the scoring for Brighouse, before Louis Mayers levelled for the visitors. However, unfortunately for Padiham they suffered their 14th defeat in the league as Ryan Hall and Ernest Boafo both scored in the second half for Brighouse to win the game 3-1.

This coming week Darlo are at home again as we face Lancaster City at Heritage Park. Despite finishing just outside the playoffs last season Lancaster have struggled to get going in this campaign and remain in the bottom half of the league table. Salford host Burscough, while second place Northwich Victoria travel to Harrogate RA.
