First Class Learning re-open their learning centres

Tuition in maths, English and science

First Class Learning has been a valued partner and sponsor for several years now and Darlington Football Club is delighted to be associated with them. The Club fully endorse the work of First Class Learning in supporting children’s learning across the North East and acknowledge the excellent leadership of Emma Orton, Centre Manager. We highly recommend their services to all parents.

After supporting students remotely since January, First Class Learning have now re-opened all seven of their learning centres in Darlington, Redcar, South Shields and Sunderland where they provide individually tailored tuition in maths, English and science for students of all ages.

The remote tuition service offered by FCL during lockdown was well received, with many parents taking to social media to recommend and thank Emma and her team for their support during this challenging period: “It gave my daughter a good learning environment during lockdown and the staff were lovely and understanding. She was able to work at a steady pace which suited her unlike school when it's one size fits all, which we know all children are different.”

“My daughter has improved a lot and gained confidence in maths after joining FCL. She likes maths now! Thanks to Emma and her team for constantly providing materials during lockdown and one-to-one tutoring for all the students.”

“We were worried about our son falling behind during lockdown so arranged for extra lessons with FCL. After just a month and a half, he showed a huge improvement. He went back to school and commented that his extra lessons made him feel more confident. We will be carrying on as it gives us peace of mind and him the reassurance he needs.”

Despite the success of the remote support, Emma reports; “I am delighted to get back to experiencing the buzzing atmosphere of the learning centres again, seeing our students for face-to-face sessions and actually meeting in person, our new students who have joined FCL during the lockdown.”

It’s apparent the feeling was mutual, judging by feedback received from parents following children attending classes for the first time:

“Ryan really enjoyed the class and said it’s much better than normal school!”

“Tom was much more positive and said it is much better in person."

"Veronica and Elisha really enjoyed returning to the tuition.”

”Noah came out really positive and had done a lot of work.”

The Darlington First Class Learning centres operate on Saturdays 10.00-12.00pm at The Dolphin Centre and Wednesdays 4.30-6.30pm at Hummersknott Academy.

Emma informs; “The impact of missed schooling is a worry for many parents. We offer free Skills Assessments which will show your child’s areas of strength, as well as any areas to work on.  We can then plan an individually tailored learning programme to build skills and confidence and to get your child’s education back on track.”
