Former Quakers Player Ken Hale passes away

Former Darlington player Ken Hale has died, at the age of 74 this week.

Ken made 173 appearances for Quakers between 1968 and 1972 scoring 25 times for the club.

Northumberland born Ken started his career with Newcastle United and had spells at Coventry and Oxford United before arriving at Feethams in 1968.

He had a brief spell as Quakers' player manager before taking over as manager at rivals Hartlepool United. He managed 119 games for 'Pools between 1974 and 1976.

In his two years at the Victoria Ground, he steered Hartlepool to the last 16 of the League Cup and to a 13th placed finish in Division Four.

The Club’s condolences go to Ken’s family at this very sad time.
