From the League: Vanarama Monthly awards

August award winners
It’s been a fair few months since we were putting awards in hands - so let’s make up
for lost time and introduce you to the big August winners in the National League
North.
There’s something to be said for racing out of the blocks and blazing a trail, even if
we all know you can’t always read too much into a good start.
King’s Lynn Town manager Tommy Widdrington knows the club’s fans are already
loving life back in the division.
The champions of 2020 have had an enjoyable trip down memory late thanks to
their awesome August.
They won all-but one of their games, not bad considering the summer rebuild after
two years of struggling.
They started with a win at Bradford PA before defeating Blyth Spartans and then
perennial promotion contenders Brackley Town.
They then thrashed AFC Telford 4-0 before a not-to-be-sniffed-at point against
Leamington.
The ended the month with success at Peterborough Sports - it secured the gong for
manager Widdrington.
Banbury United know a thing or two about winning football matches.
After racking up 102 points last season in the Southern Premier, they’re showing no
signs of getting out of their groove!
But they will have to continue to tackle the National League North without attacking
talent Morgan Roberts.
His sizzling start secured a big move to League Two Swindon Town in the final days
of the transfer window.
He spearheaded Banbury’s fearless assault on the division since their promotion,
scoring four goals as they settled in superbly.
Beating Curzon Ashton, AFC Fylde, Darlington and Hereford, the Puritans showed
another promotion push could well be a possibility last month.
Roberts may not be on hand to help, but he’ll still be backing them every step of the
way.

We love the Vanarama Volunteer of Month award as we get the opportunity to
honour those who remind us what football is all about.
Thanks to our title sponsors, we can shine the spotlight again on those who clubs
couldn’t do without.
Tony Edwards’ commitment to Brackley Town has grown and grown.
Starting out by dipping his toe in as a steward, he would occasionally put his hand
up - but now he’s a regular, taking on more and more responsibly at St James Park
as the years roll by.
Now he arranges the club’s security as chief steward and is a key cog when it comes
to matchday safety.
The club say Tony is a classic example of much-needed volunteering and know how
important the support is to keeping the club going.
Well done to our three fantastic winners!
