A look back at 90s shirts..

 We continue our look at Quakers' shirts in the 90s with the 1996-97 home version

This was worn during 1996-97, but was released at the back end of the previous season and this leaves a shameful black mark on the club. (writes Craig Stoddart)

Darlington had been going great guns in 95-96. We’d been playing great football, we’d beaten Hartlepool 4-2 in the FA Cup, Robbie Blake was playing and we reached the play-offs for the first time. And then this abomination was released just in time to muck everything up.

Hoops were replaced by this predominately white shirt, while white shorts were used for the first time in nine years. Despite being a Sunday league-style shirt - manufactured by a company called Icis – it was worn in Quakers’ first ever visit to Wembley when Plymouth Argyle beat us 1-0.

 

Soccer Friendly ...Blackpool v Darlington

Having finished 18th during a season in which the likes of Brian Laws, Kenny Lowe and Frenchman Daniel Barbara all featured, the kit was dumped after one year.
