Northallerton 1 Darlington 2.
The reserves had a great 2-1 away win at Northallerton on Wednesday night in their latest pre season friendly.
Quakers led at half time, and with better luck, could have scored more goals in the second half.
They took the lead when James Beauchamp beat a defender and set up Nathan Stephenson who ran on and slotted the ball past the keeper, but Northallerton levelled through Richie Walker after the Darlington defence got themselves into a tangle.
But Quakers recovered, and won the game before half time when Vinny Steels was brought down in the box, and Stephenson tucked away the penalty.
Joint manager Mark Fanning said; “If we scored a third in the second half, then we could have gone on to score four or five. We hit the bar once, and their keeper made three good saves.
“It was a great result, because Northallerton beat Newton Aycliffe last weekend, and a lot of their players have plenty of experience in the Northern League. It was a good workout for our lads.”
