There was a great away win for the Under 14s at Feethams last weekend -- read about them and some of our other youth teams.

Birtley 0 Darlington Under 14s Feethams 4

1st game, 6 debuts, 1 excited Manager, 2 hopeful coaches, 17 hard working players and many, many relatives.

A defensive style was taken from the off to allow the players to settle into the game, Jackson and Carvey made several runs down the wings, Hatton and Ord commanded the centre, and the 'little General' McCowie cleaned everything up.

Captain Ord was up for a game, making tackle after tackle, Hatton powered through the field to score a well taken debut goal, 0-1 up after 3 minutes.

The great partnership of Harland and Bruce continued at the back, whilst Nichol and Tweddle pushed up the pitch.

Blackham made a good attempt on goal only for the keeper to make a great save, at the other end the long ball was tried but Tweddle cleared his line with a big header.

Feethams now went 4-4-1-1 with Carvey coming off for Ruddick and Ord pushing onto his familiar right wing.

Blackham made it 2-0 with a brilliant assist from Nichol. Birtley bloke free but Warburton made a great save to deny their striker. Jackson, who worked constantly down the left was re-place by Kirk and Pearson for Hatton, who was getting niggling kicks all half from the No.11. Warburton played the ball down the pitch to set-up Ruddick who shot from 20 yards for a sublime effort for the 3rd, well taken and well deserved goal for the rejuvenated player.

Half time: Birtley Town 0 Darlington Feethams 3

Several changes made and fresh legs on the pitch, Pocock for Nichol, Skull for Harland, the lads were up against it as Birtley came out battling, playing most of their attacks down the right, but Tweddle cut them out every time. Pearson sat back and sprayed the ball well across the pitch to Ord and Kirk on the wings and Pocock made several individual runs from the RB position. New back 2, Bruce and Skull worked very well together, Carvey caused problems on the RW, as Simmi, on for Blackham, got closer and closer to scoring.

Birtley broke through the defence and Warburton pulled off another brilliant save to deny the home team. The game was mainly played in the middle of the park, until Simmi put in

No.4, hard work payed off the the debutante striker.

A magnificent sliding tackle from Bruce and another great save from Warburton and the game ended 0-4.

Under 15 Quakers 4 Durham Soccerana 0

Darlington started off brightly playing some nice possession football but struggled to find a finishing touch to their play and it was only deep into the first half before we scored. From then on the floodgates opened and we went in at half time 4-0 up. The second half developed the same way and the opposition couldn't cope with Darlington's slick passing with the game ending up 9-0 and striker Oscar Taylor scoring a hat trick. Good start!
