Harvey: I could sense the crowd's relief

Striker talks about Saturday's win over Telford

Darlington striker Harvey Saunders said that he sense everyone’s relief when he scored the important second goal against Telford at the weekend.

Harvey’s neat little lob over the advancing keeper from a David Syers’ assist put Quakers 2-0 up with just over ten minutes left, and banished any worries of a Telford fightback.

“It was brilliant to finally get off the mark at home,” he said. “It was always a worry while we were 1-0 up and without that second goal that they might sneak an equaliser, but I could feel the relief around the ground when I scored.

“When the keeper touched my header against the bar earlier in the half, I thought it was going to be one of those days, but David Syers helped the ball on nicely for me, and it bounced just right for me to lob the keeper.

“Considering that Telford were unbeaten before the game, it was a very good performance and a very good result. Hopefully this will give us a platform.”
