Joe called up for England C standby squad

Darlington midfielder Joe Wheatley has today been called up for the England C standby squad for the friendly against Wales at Barry Town on Tuesday 20th March.

Joe has been outstanding in the Darlington midfield since he broke into the side, and manager Tommy Wright said; “I’m delighted for him, he has come a long way in a short period of time. He deserves the recognition, and it’s a massive pat on the back for the player, as well as for the club.”

Two other former Darlington players are also involved. Spennymoor’s Rob Ramshaw has been called into the full squad, while David Ferguson, now at York, is also named in the standby squad.

Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Joe on his call up.
