Darlington FC director John Tempest is calling on Darlington fans to be on their best behaviour for the visit of York City on Saturday in the Vanarama National League North.
The game will see the return of former Darlington manager Martin Gray and several other people and players with Darlington connections, and JT wants fans to act “graciously and respectfully” towards them before, during and after the game.
He said; “I know that there are one or two issues regarding Martin’s departure to York City, but we mustn’t forget that if it wasn’t largely for Martin, then as a club we wouldn’t be playing at this level of football. We have come a long way in a short space of time thanks to him.
“I really believe, and I am 100 per cent supported in this view by everyone involved in the running of the club and by Tommy and his staff, that all Darlington fans should act graciously and respectfully towards Martin and all of the other people and players who used to be involved with our club.
“We want the day to be remembered for the right reasons, and that is for a football match between two good sides.
“The support of the fans for our team on Boxing Day against Harrogate was fantastic, and it is that sort of traditional backing which will help us win Saturday’s game.”
