Darlington skipper Kevin Burgess is hoping for another clean sheet at Stockport tomorrow.

Quakers kept their first clean sheet since August when they beat Gloucester 2-0 last Saturday, and now he and the rest of the players are aiming to keep Stockport out at Edgeley Park.

“There was a real determination last week not to let Gloucester score, and that ran all the way through the side,” he said. “We watched the video of the goals that we conceded before the game, and we reckon that only two of them were unstoppable – all the others could have been avoided because individuals made mistakes.”

Kev missed the previous meeting between the two sides earlier this season, when Quakers won 2-1 with goals by Mark Beck and Adam Mitchell.

“I missed the game because I was injured at the time, but it was a terrific performance to win the game against a team that was in the Football League not so long ago.

“This a game between two old Football League clubs on a great ground, and it’s sure to be really good. Hopefully we’ll have a big following of fans, who really will make a big difference to us. We’ll be up for the game, no doubt about that.!

Kev was full of admiration of Phil Turnbull’s cracking strike against Gloucester last week.

“I know this sounds difficult bearing in mind that was his first goal for the club in his second season, but he’s always banging them in like that in training.

“Phil said that when he scored that it would be something special, and it certainly was considering that it was on a bobbly pitch. It was a wonder hit. I was proper proud of him.”
