Darlington skipper Kevin Burgess says that the games can’t come quick enough for the team at the moment.

Quakers head down the A1 to Stamford tonight on a run of just one defeat in the last 14 league games, and three straight wins which has put them second in the table. If they win tonight, they’ll be four points behind leaders Blyth with three games in hand.

“Really, the games can’t come quick enough for us at the moment, we’re all really looking forward to tonight’s game,” he said.

“We’re buzzing that we’re playing Saturday then Tuesday, we want the next game to come along as quickly as possible.

“Obviously, we’re keeping our feet on the ground and not getting carried away. After Saturday’s game, no one said that we’re going to win the league because there are still a lot of matches to play. But we all believe that we can win the league, which was the aim at the start of the season.

“There’s a great togetherness, we’re like brothers-in-arms at the moment. We’re a tight-knit group, with a great management team and a great bunch of fans.”

Kev scored his 7th league goal of the season at Matlock on Saturday, and he said; “We came flying out of the blocks at the start of the game, just like we did against Ilkeston. When we were 3-0 up, it could have been 4 or 5, because we the strikers were getting chances. Mind, big Pete made three saves at the start of the second half. It was a really strong squad performance, one which we need to keep repeating.”
