Darlington skipper Kevin Burgess says that he’s ready to play if needed at Chorley on Tuesday night.
Kev stepped in at the last minute to play at Southport on Saturday, and he says he’ll play again if necessary.
“When I got on the bus to Southport, I thought that I might have a chance of getting on the bench, even though I’ve only played a couple of reserve games this season. I had some treatment on my hip injury in midweek, and I trained with the lads on Thursday.
“Gary Brown told us on the way down to Southport that he wouldn’t be playing, then Liam Marrs had a fitness test when we go to Southport, and finished it shaking his head.
“Martin then pulled me to one side, and asked if I could play, and without hesitation, I said yes.
“I felt that I could play 90 minutes. I thought I did well for the first 45 minutes, but I’ll hold my hand up and say that I should have done better with their first goal.
“Overall though, I can’t believe that we lost the game, because we had plenty of chances to win it in the first half. We could have been 2-0 up at half time. After Southport scored, they kicked on, but we still missed some sitters. It was a very similar game to
