Darlington midfielder Leon Scott will probably start for Quakers in their Durham Challenge Cup tie at EBAC Northern League club Stockton Town tonight.

Scott has completed a three match ban for being sent off against Stalybridge in September and needs match fitness ahead of Quakers’ big away game at Harrogate on Saturday. He will be part of what is very much a second string Quakers’ line up, with the management unwilling to risk any regular first teamers with such a big clash looming in the Vanarama National League North. Keeper Mark Bell will also play in goal.

Assistant manager Brian Atkinson, who will be in charge of the team tonight, said; “Because of his suspension and the blank week after the Stalybridge game, Leon hasn’t played for over a month, so a game will do him some good.”

Bell re-signed for Quakers during the summer, but hasn’t played any games yet.

There may be one or two more fringe first team players, but the rest of the team will be made up of Under 18s players, one of whom will be Dale Milburn, who has been scoring regularly.

“This will be a great experience for the young lads, some of whom have been showing plenty of promise in the youth team this season,” said Atkinson.

Stockton, meanwhile, are going well in the EBAC Northern League Second Division, in which they are second, and have lost just once this season.

Their ground is located on Bishopton Road West in Stockton. Turn left off the A66 at Elton, going north on Yarm Back Lane, then at the T junction turn right on to Darlington Back Lane, then after approx. 100 yards, turn right onto Bishopton Road West. The ground is approx. 1 mile further along on the right, next to a school.
