Darlington defender Liam Marrs is eagerly looking forward to Quakers’ opening home game against his old club Boston United tomorrow.
Right back Liam left Boston at the end of last season after two happy years there, but now he’s aiming to send his old club home pointless from Heritage Park tomorrow.
“It will be nice to meet some old friends from my time there. Boston is a great club with great people, but now I’m fully focussed on my career at darlington.
“I had two great seasons at Boston, and there was a great bunch of lads there. Some of them have moved on, like I have.
“The pity is that we never got promoted. We got to two play off semi finals and lost them both, but the league is that strong. You can’t just turn up and expect to win.”
Liam was happy with a point from the opening game at Altrincham last Saturday and said; “It would have been three, because I thought that we should have had a second penalty in stoppage time, but at least we got some points on the board.”
