Long-serving fan Jeff Jones passes away

Generous Jeff helped Quakers in several ways

The club is sad to learn of the passing of long-serving and generous fan Jeff Jones.

Jeff, who lived in Banffshire in Scotland, travelled down regularly to see Quakers play – his last visit was for the game against Ashton United in December when he met man of the match Andy Nelson.

Jeff, who was 74, supported many of our fundraising campaigns, and recently paid for the sign boards on the dugouts and the signs at the entrances to the seated stand and the seating blocks. He regularly visited our hospitality area and watched matches from the balcony.

Jeff was born in Darlington, and after living in North Cowton, moved to Scotland where he gained a degree in chemistry at Aberdeen University before moving into teaching.

He was also a popular radio DJ, and had spells on pirate radio station Radio 270 and Radio 2, and was still going strong on Moray Firth Radio on which he spoke passionately about Quakers’ results and news.

Everyone at Darlington FC would like to pass on their condolences to Jeff’s family and friends.
