Quakers pick up a point at Marine

Now five unbeaten

Marine 0 Darlington 0

Attendance 1832

Quakers picked up a good point from a goalless draw at Marine.

They also stretched their unbeaten run to five matches, but they could have picked up all three points as Marine keeper Luke Hutchinson pulled off some good saves, two in particular near the end.

Marine got a corner in the first minute which was swung over for Owen Robinson to head wide from six yards out

Quakers got a free kick for a foul on the halfway line on 3 minutes. Scott Barrow hoisted the ball into the box, where Joe Mattock’s headed clearance ended up in the hands of keeper Luke Hutchinson.

Marine got another setpiece for a foul on the left, but Scott Butler’s couldn’t get any power behind his header and Peter Jameson easily saved.

Jarrett Rivers got the ball on the edge of the box, but his pass for Jack Maskell was intercepted.

Marine got a chance on 19 minutes when the ball was crossed from the right, it took a slight deflection, and Brad Holmes headed into Jameson’s hands from a tight angle.

Nelson picked up a good ball from Griffiths and got into the box, but his pull back was intercepted.

Levi Andoh then intercepted the ball on the halfway line and charged towards the Marine box, where it took two defenders to stop him.

Nelson nearly broke through on 30 minutes. He played a 1-2 with Maskell which didn’t quite work, but the Marine defence hesitated and he nearly got in, but the ball was cleared.

Quakers had another chance on 32 minutes. Jarrett Rivers crossed from the right to the far post, where Maskell put in a looping header that Hutchinson touched over the bar..

Cornish floated the corner over for Maskell to come in and head over the bar – a similar move to Spennymoor last week.

Marine won a corner on 38 minutes but Quakers broke away from it. Maskell won two challenges to go through one-on-one, but Hutchinson blocked with his legs.

Half time 0-0

Quakers won a free kick on the left on 48 minutes. Griffiths played the ball short to Hatfield, but his effort was blocked.

Marine got a corner on their left on 51 minutes,  but Jameson fisted the ball away. However, Marine got a free kick on the edge of the box in a central position.

The ball was blasted into the wall, and it ran for Thomas to tap in, but it was flagged offside.

Marine nearly scored on 58 minutes when the ball was played through for Holmes to hit an angled right foot shot that Jameson pushed away.

Quakers nearly scored at the other end. Barrow’s headed ball forward came back out fr Rivers to hit first time, and Hutchinson pushed the ball around the post.

Cedric Main came on for Nelson on 61 minutes, and he provided some new energy up front.

Cameron Salkeld came on for Cornish on 72 minutes.

Quakers won a free kick on the right on 75 minutes which led to a corner on the left.

The ball was cleared out to Griffiths on the corner of the box, and he struck a powerful right foot shot that went just wide.

A mistake in midfield let Thomas get away, but he fired well wide.

Quakers nearly scored on 83 minutes. Rivers found Griffiths on the left, and he played the ball back inside for Flint to hit towards the bottom left, but the Hutchinson saved well.

And they went close again on 88 minutes. Andoh ran round the back of the defence and set up Hatfield, whose first time shot was well pushed over by Hutchinson.

Andoh was fouled just outside the box in stoppage time, but Barrow’s free kick went into the wall.
