Steve Hume has contacted us about his memories of Amar Purewal, who left the club at the weekend for Shildon in the Northern League.

Since Day 1 2012 Amar was my favourite Darlo player (and there were plenty to choose from!). I think as a striker he could do everything, dribble with the ball, play with his back to goal and hold the ball up, was brilliant in the air, tackle back and score all kinds of goals.

The two goals against Team Northumbria are obvious highlights but as someone who watches Darlo almost exclusively away from home, I have chosen my top 3 Amar memories as follows;

1. Bamber Bridge with the score at 1.1 Amar was sent through on the left wing from the halfway line, cut in and dribbled all the way into the box before curling a right foot shot into the far corner. The goal reminded me of David Currie at his brilliant best, no better compliment than that.

2. Clitheroe when we came from 2.0 down to win 3.2. Mayhem ensured when Amar slotted home the winner in the last minute!

3. Warrington were unbeaten for ages but 2 goals from Dows in the 1st half and 2 from Amar in the 2nd destroyed them completely. Amar was untouchable that day.

I only met Amar once to speak to, in the bar after the Bamber Bridge Playoff Final. We chatted for 5 mins about knee injuries and he posed very patiently for a photo.  Lovely, polite, well-spoken lad and now permanent Darlo legend.

Thanks Amar for all those great memories.
