Darlington manager Martin Gray says that he and the players are keeping their feet on the ground after Tuesday night’s win at Nantwich.
Quakers moved to within one point of leaders Blyth with two games in hand after an exhilarating 5-0 win in Cheshire, but Gray isn’t getting carried away by any means.
“Everybody in the management team and the squad are pretty level-headed,” he said. “There were no real celebrations after the win on Tuesday, to us it’s another game played.
“There are ten more games to go still, anything can happen. From our point of view, we must continue to achieve the same levels as we have in recent matches.”
MG admitted that Quakers could have been two goals down in the first 20 minutes.
“I thought they started the better team, and we could have been 2-0 down. They caused us problems with their pace, and Pete Jameson had to make a couple of good saves. Maybe we scored a little against the runoff play, but after that we slowly got on top.
“We regrouped at half time and tweaked one or two things. In the second half, I thought we played some good football, and scored some good goals from open play and setpieces.
“Nantwich are a good team, they’ve proved that by reaching the semi finals of the FA trophy and are one of the top scorers in the league. Maybe it was a good time to play them, because they had two or three regulars missing.”
