National North Round-up  14/10/2019

The latest from around the league

We moved up to 12th place in the league table after our fourth win in a row in all competitions. Goals from Tyrone O’Neill and Adam Campbell gave us a 2-1 victory over Boston United. We are four points outside the top seven.

York remain top of the table despite being held to a 1-1 draw at Telford.  Jordan Burrow  gave York the lead early in the second half, before James McQuilkin levelled for Telford less than ten minutes later.

Third placed King’s Lynn Town and second placed Chester held each over to a 2-2 draw meaning neither were able to close the gap on York at the top. Adam Marriott put King’s Lynn ahead inside the first two minutes, before quick fire goals from Simon Grand and Asante Akwasi appeared to have given Chester the points.  However, Marriott grabbed his second inside the final quarter of an hour as the points were shared.

Alfreton won 1-0 at Leamington and moved up to fourth in the table, Bobby Johnson scored the only goal of the game after eight minutes.

Brackley slipped to a 1-0 defeat at Southport. David Morgan grabbed the winner from the penalty spot during the second half.

Guiseley are in the final playoff spot and are level on points with Brackley  after a 1-1 draw at home to Altrincham. Felix Kaine gave the hosts the lead, but a Josh Hancock penalty meant the points were shared.

Hereford are outside the top seven on goal difference after a  3-2 defeat at Bradford PA. Our former man Adam Nowakowski and Lewis Knight put the hosts firmly in control. Peter Vincenti kept the Bulls in the game before half time, but a Daniel Sweeney penalty regained a two goal cushion for Park Avenue. Tommy O’Sullivan again reduced the deficit to one, but Bradford held on for a victory that moved them out of the relegation zone.

Gateshead are ninth after a 1-0 success at home to Gloucester. Joshua Kayode grabbed the only goal after 17 minutes for the Heed who have now won six of their last seven games in all competitions.

Blyth remain bottom but made it back-to-back league wins with a 1-0 victory at Curzon Ashton.  Levi Amantchi scored the only goal of the game for Spartans with 15 minutes to go. The win leaves them a point behind third placed Bradford PA and Curzon Ashton.

Kettering dropped into the bottom two after a 2-0 defeat at home to Spennymoor. Top scorer Glen Taylor scored both goals for Moors who moved up to 14th.
