With none of the top three sides in league action, attention was on the teams fighting for survival.
Telford United stay in the bottom three but closed the gap on those above them with a 1-0 win over FC United of Manchester. John Mcatee scored the only goal of the game for Telford before half-time. They are three points off safety with games in hand on all their relegation rivals including FC United who are one of four teams just ahead of Telford.
Leamington also earned a big victory over playoff chasing Blyth Spartans. Daniel Udoh scored the winner just after half-time for the Brakes who jumped up to 15th place, four points ahead of the bottom three.
Curzon Ashton are one of the four sides level on 37 points after a 3-1 defeat at Southport who have jumped into the top half of the table. Matthew Regan had give Curzon an early lead, but a Jason Gilchrist strike was quickly followed by an own goal to turn the game around. Southport were able to seal victory thanks to Elliot Osborne in stoppage time to move them seven points ahead of danger and the same number off the playoffs.
Nuneaton picked up another valuable point at home to Chorley to leave them 12th. Josh Wilson gave the visitors the lead, with Ashley Chambers earning a late 1-1 draw for Nuneaton.
Alfreton are 16th on goal difference after a 1-1 draw at York. Simon Heslop gave the Minstermen an early lead, with Thomas Allan scoring the equaliser for Alfreton.
The final league game saw bottom of the table North Ferriby pick up only their second win of the season away to Bradford Park Avenue. Lewis Collins scored the only goal for North Ferriby, as Bradford’s playoff hopes suffered another set back.
Three of the team’s in our division were in the last eight of the FA Trophy. Spennymoor earned a 0-0 draw at Bromley, while Stockport and Brackley held each other to a 1-1 draw. Both ties will be replayed this week.
