Darlington skipper Phil Turnbull says that the friendly against Boro Under 23s on Wednesday night will be a tough challenge.
Quakers will play their first serious game in almost a month when they face Craig Liddle’s Under 23s, and Phil expects Quakers to be fully tested.
“One of the lads has played against Boro Under 23s before, and he said that they are a really good side,” Phil pointed out.
“They get the ball down and pass it around well, and they’ve got some good players who have been involved in the first team squad this season, and a couple of them have played games in the first team.
“Plus, they’re going really well in the league that they’re in, so it shows how well coached they are.”
Phil says that the Darlington players are very keen on playing again.
“There is nothing better than playing in matches, so it was frustrating for the Salford game to be postponed,” he said.
“But in the past three weeks, we’ve all got to know each other better and also to work on tactics with the manager. We’ve also brought in Reece, so we’ve been working on how to get the best out of him.”
The game against Boro Under 23s kicks off at 7.45 on Wednesday at Blackwell Meadows. Admission is £5 for adults and concessions, and free for children.
