The first is from the 1969-70 season
Can you name these six Darlington players pictured ahead of the 1969-70 season? They are photographed in July ’69 ahead of a poor campaign for Quakers that ended in 22nd place in Division Four and it meant having to reapply for re-election for the first time since 1952. Fortunately for Darlington it was Bradford Park Avenue who went out of the Football League, replaced by Cambridge United. The highlight of the season a home League Cup second round tie with Everton, attended by 13,924, which the Merseysiders won 1-0, but the rest of the year was poor. Pictured left to right are Brian Albeson, Alan Gauden, Ken Hale, Joe Jaques, Billy Thompson and Alan Sproates.
