In his latest look at the Northern Echo archives, Craig Stoddart looks at a pic from 1954.
Three Darlington players heading away from Feethams in July 1954, although they could be mistaken for anglers given their trawlermen-inspired heavy duty jumpers, hardly the most comfortable attire during pre-season training, one would imagine. Pictured are Dickie Davis, Terry Stoddart and Billy Walsh. Quakers finished season 54-55 in 15th in Division 3 (North), with Davis missing only two of 52 matches in all competitions, while Walsh played 28 times, but Stoddart hardly featured and was named in the starting XI for only six games.
