Thanks to the help of our volunteers and local companies, our pitch covers have been moved from Heritage Park to Blackwell Meadows.
Over a dozen volunteers, with the help of Lloyd Agricultural Machinery Ltd and PSP Architectural Ltd, carried, folded and transported the pitch covers on Wednesday afternoon from Bishop Auckland to Darlington.
DFCSG chair Chris Stockdale said; “It was a great effort by all the volunteers who turned up, and we would also like to thank the companies involved for their help.”
The vast majority of the covers – each of which is quite heavy and needed several people to move them -- appear to be in great condition, which is very good news.
Lloyd have been good to Darlington FC in the past – they overhauled an extra wide mower which John Tempest retrieved from the Arena and is now in working order at Blackwell Meadows.
We would also like to thank Bishop Auckland FC and the rugby club for their help and co-operation.
