Quakers crash out in Semi Final by Ben Potts.

Lambton Street 5-1 Darlington .

Darlington U18's suffered a disappointing defeat in the semi final of the John Malley League Cup semi final. The visitors came into the match in good form despite a 1-0 home reverse to New Hartley last week in a match that was cut short by Tom Young suffering a dislocated knee six minutes from time. Lambton Street beat Newcastle  Benfield 4-0 last week to advance to this stage of the competition.

The hosts started the better of the two and took the lead early on. Some clever work down the right led to a smart finish at the back post for the opening goal of the game. The hosts were dominating the midfield and a second goal materialised when a good passing move was finished off neatly from the edge of the area.

Darlington did have periods of well constructed possession but they weren't able to put any real pressure onto the Lambton Street rearguard. Early in the second half however, Jordan Lee cut inside and finished smartly into the corner of the net.

Any hope of a comeback by the young Quakers were extinguished when a corner was headed in by the Lambton Street centre half. Two late goals materialised for a confident home side who sealed a convincing victory to advance into the League Cup final.

All is not lost for Darlington as they have a Lady Eden cup quarter final at home to Newcastle Benfield this Saturday at Longfield school, kick off 1:30.
