Quaker Women score thirteen in superb display

Seven different scorers

Darlington Women ran riot in their friendly with Northallerton on Sunday afternoon, winning 13-1, with seven different players getting on the scoresheet.

Sophie Curle scored four times in the first 48 minutes, with  Nicole Graham scoring a hat trick, and Hattie Raine (2), Emma Doudican, Aimee Dagnall, Katie Sheridan and Chloe Bright getting the others.

Here's a match report by Chris Barrett

Darlington came out strong and it wasn’t long before they were ahead with Hattie Raine playing the ball into the ever dependable Sophie Curle who slid the ball home past the keeper.

After 8 minutes Darlington doubled the lead with Chloe Ryan playing the ball from the right hand side into Curle who twisted and turned in the box and fired home.

In 18 minutes Darlington got another with the ball being played in deep from the right side by Raine for Emma Doudican to sweep in round the back and volley home.

Curle was again there for the fourth with the assist this time coming from Lacey Baldwin after an agonising miss from Alice Wearmouth from a corner which evaded everyone on the 6 yard line.

It was a strong first half with the defence helping to building a number of attacks and dealing with the few attacks which were created.

There were a number of changes at half time and this may have been a contributing factor as Northallerton started reinvigorated and won the ball quick to counter down the left and they struck well over the keeper to get a goal back.

Two minutes later it was Darlington back on the scoresheet and it was again Curle who got her fourth of the match.

Darlington made it 6-1 on 52 minutes with Raine going from provider to scorer with some good build up by Sheridan to assist.

It was another ten minutes before Darlington got another with substitute Nicole Graham coming on to score with quick feet in the box and a cool finish slid past the keeper after the ball was played in by Chloe Bright.

Darlington were awarded a penalty on 64 minutes when the ball was handled on the line and with Curle off the pitch it was Raine who stepped up to put it in the side netting.

On 69 minutes Chloe Bright was alert to win the ball from the keeper and slid calmly home.

This was then followed up with a double by Graham to get her first hat trick for the team with the assists coming from Katie Sheridan and Aimee Dagnall.

It was Sheridan herself who got on the scoresheet after 84 minutes with the ball being fed to her from the middle by Millie Garnett.

The final goal came on 88 minutes with the set up this time coming from Graham and a lovely strike from Aimee Dagnall to round off an emphatic win.
