Despite a good point at Chorley we slipped to seventh in the table three points behind Stockport County in the final play-off place, but we still have the bottom eight in the table still to play.
We met Altrincham on the opening day of the season when we came from behind twice to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw, Terry Galbraith scoring both goals.
Since our meeting in August it has been a tough struggle for Altrincham that has seen them bottom of the pile for the last few months.
They changed their manager in December with assistant, Matt Doughty taking over in the hot seat. Alty have only once in the league so far, although that was away from home. Last weekend they lost 1-0 at home to Halifax Town.
Their last six results are: LLDLLL
Quakers’ last six results are: DLDWLD
Altrincham were relegated from the Vanarama National last year after finishing third bottom of the division having spent just two campaigns in it.
Before this season the sides last met during the 2010/11 campaign following the Quakers relegation the previous year from League Two. Despite Altrincham being relegated that year they managed to take four points from Darlington in the two league games. The sides held each other to a 2-2 draw in August, before Altrincham took all the points from the Arena in the reverse fixture with a 1-0 win.
The two sides also met in the Conference in season 1989-90, and again in the FA Cup in 2001. Both of those games are featured in Saturday’s matchday programme.
